Marlies Dekkers maps out her life as she wants: after leaving the Academie voor Kunst en Vormgeving [School of Art and Design] of Breda, Netherlands, with her diploma acquired with High Distinction, she doesn't succumb to the easiness of answering the lucrative orders of brands that, in her opinion, operate too much in the erotic and pornographic segment. Therefore she starts her own business in her room in the attic. Against the fashion designers of the time, she is interested in the physique, in the visible shapes of the body whereas the fashion is clothes with a great quantity of fabrics and abstraction of the model's body. Through her creations, she develops the idea that built her life: the woman should be energetic, independent and proud of her own body.
